Mrs. Martin's Wedding Activities

One of my best friends had been dating this guy for what seemed like forever, and we all knew they were the next to get engaged.  Finally, some day halfway through March she called me and he popped the question! I was so super excited for her! So then she calls me back a few days later and this is how the conversation went:

Betty: So....would you be mad if I got married before you? (I had mentioned before how unfair it was for people that got engaged after me was getting married before me, even though my circumstance was different and couldn't happen any other way)
Betty continued: That venue I was telling you about, my dream one, is only open one day and it's in 2 months.  So it would be two weeks before your wedding.
Me:  OF COURSE I WOULDN'T BE MAD! (Really super excited that she could get into the venue because we had talked about it the day before)

So it was set, she booked the venue and started planning her wedding two months away.  So for the next two months, we had LOTS of wedding activities between the two of us.  And to make it even more crazy, there were 4 of us ladies, all involved (or bridesmaids) in both.

So first up, was my Bachelorette Party.

The following weekend we had a Bridal shower and Bachelorette Party for Betty.
Bride and Groom (this was actually taken at a different bridal shower)
I feel like I ate about half of this delicious cookie cake
Spread of food
Surprise Candlelight!
Time for the Bachelorette Party! We headed to Paint Your Art Out.  You basically can drink while they take you step by step through a painting.  And you get to take the painting home with you! So fun!
Bride to be
Yummy cupcakes
Opening some gifts
Everyone with their drinks
We started painting
Final products! I'd say we are pretty awesome painters!
The very next weekend was her wedding.  It was so fun and I had such a great time.

Getting dressed

There was an air vent on the floor and it was super hot inside
It was so hot we found the groomsmen hiding in the food cooler
Gorgeous!
Picture time! She was climbing in a barn and didn't want to get the dress dirty until she got where she needed to be, so she walked around like this.  Quite humorous.
Bridesmaids
One extremely funny picture.

Poppers!
When you love an Alpha Delta :)
Having a good ole time.

Congrats Betty and Trevor!!!!

Bedlam Weight Loss Challenge - TurboFire Day 1

I realize I still have yet to post about wedding & honeymoon events.  And I'll get there.  But first, I wanted to make note of our first marital challenge.  On the last day of our honeymoon (while lounging in the pool with the swim up bar and downing mixed drinks and Red Stripe), Ricky and I came up with a weight loss challenge.  We had both put some weight on since he got home from Afghanistan and we were ready to get healthy.

So here's what we came up with.  Whoever loses the most percentage of weight loss (to make it fair) by September 1st gets to chose the losers outfit to a football game this fall.  For those that don't know, I am a huge Oklahoma State fan (Go Cowboys!), while Ricky is a huge OU fan.  While we have gotten better about the smack talk, there will always be that rivalry.  So what better motivation that to get the other to wear our favorite colors.  The only exclusions are the actual Bedlam Football game and OU/Texas.

So if I win, he's going to be deck out in orange all over, and if he wins then I will most definitely be wearing crimson and cream (yuck!).  We both dislike each others colors so much neither one of us wants to lose!  So this is a great motivation!

So how is it going?  Well he is winning....we have had two weigh ins and him being a man with his easy weight loss efforts means he can lose weight much faster than I can.  I learned quickly that he can still drink beer, eat a whole pizza, nachos, chicken pot pie and still lose 3 pounds in a week.  So I decided last week that I needed to step it up. So that led me to TURBOFIRE!
It wasn't a rash decision.  I had been looking at it for quite some time.  It looked so fun with it's kickboxing type workouts!  So I pulled the trigger, and shelled over the money for it.

I finally got it in the mail yesterday and this morning I got up bright and early and did my very first TurboFire workout.  It was already pretty intense.  I burned 450 calories with the Starter workout and 10 minutes of stretching.  I can't wait to dive deeper and work even harder.
Here I am, 6:15 AM, no makeup, sweaty and just complete Day 1
On top of the new workouts, I'm still going to do a couple days of Bootcamp (that I have been a member of since last August) and try to eat clean.  I believe my eating is the biggest problem I have.  I know what to eat, I just don't stick to it.  I tell myself I "deserve" that piece of cake or that whole basket of tortilla chips or that tall beer.  Why would I deserve that? I didn't do anything special.  So I'm going to have to work on that and start rewarding myself with something besides food.

I had really thought about starting video blogs to keep myself accountable but haven't decided yet.  Until next time.....

Bachelorette Party!

I'm finally getting a chance to post some pre-wedding activities!!! On May 5th (Cinco de Mayo), my friends threw me a bachelorette party! It was sooo fun! Just wanted I needed at the time to get my mind off the events of the week before.    I headed to OKC for drinks and chips/queso at Iguana.  Since it was Cindo de Mayo and it was a mexican restaurant, they had an extra bar (block party) set up outside.  So it was fun to hang out there and get the party started while we waited on our table.

Afte we had some delicious margaritas, chips, salsa, and queso, we headed out to Teaze.  The girls had all brought stuff to dress me up in.  Then the dancing began :)  It was a lot of fun and I was super sore the next week!  You use muscles that you wouldn't even imagine!
How do I look as a blond?

All the girls
Trying to learn the "moves"
I conquered the flip!!!
We then headed back to the hotel to get cleaned up, eat more food and open presents.

Delicious cookies Meredith made!

We then proceeded to finish getting ready and headed out on the town where we ended up at a bar for a couple drinks.  We called it a night and what a fun night it was!

Married Life

I'm back! I am so far behind on my posts, it's ridiculous.  But I promise to update (pics included) as soon as I have time to go through them all.  I haven't even posted my Bachelorette Party yet.

But first, I wanted to write just about how I'm feeling right now.  Almost 2 weeks ago I finally got to marry my best friend, and I am so incredibly happy.  People keep asking how it feels to be married, and it is so far the best experience ever.  Not only did I get to spend 8 days in a tropical location on the beach with him, but now I get to wake up to him everyday and do grown up things :) .  I realize I'm still in that "honeymoon" stage, but I still love it.

I wanted to give you a sneak peak of a couple of our wedding pictures :)

Keep checking back for more and better updates!
